Hey loves, long time no see, I guess it's time to stop procrastinating and get back on the grind lol. Recently I was offered the chance to review a new collection that will be releasing next month from Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer called the Spark in the Dark Collection. While I've followed Julie's blog and brand for a while I recently really fell in love with her Doctor Who collection (it was massive lol), so I jumped at the chance to swatch these.
Let's start with It's Almost After Midnight: a "medium dark grey creme with strong blue shimmer and blue flash." I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to capture the beautiful blue shimmer. I've recently been all about the shimmah so I am smitten with this one. No app or formula issues and is shown in two coats with topcoat.

Next is a favorite, Wanna Fall In Love Tonight: a "red-leaning purple with delicate gold shimmer. Dries satin." I found the shimmer much less noticeable in this one and my camera couldn't pick it up. That aside the color of this one stole me heart! No app or formula issues and is show in two coats with topcoat because I was on a roll and wasn't thinking and top-coated them all :(

The Years Have Been Short is the first of two microglitters in this collection. It's described as a "jelly base tinted slightly white with white microglitter, reflective beads, blue/purple iridescent microglitters, strong blue shimmer, and smatter of various shades of blue microglitters." This baby is packed! I used three thin coats along with a coat of gelous and a fast drying topcoat but I think this might also work well as a topper if you went lightly. I was super impressed with the application of this as it applied more like a creme then glitter, no manipulation required and excellent glitter dispersal.

Counting Down Until I See You is the second microglitter of the collection. This is described as a "light pink microglitter with accents of gunmetal and silver reflective beads." I have never seen reflective beads used in polish before and it's quite interesting, they are said to be heavier than normal glitter so you may need to shake the bottle to mix them evenly. I found the application to be the same as TYHBS and it is shown in three coats with gelous and topcoat.

Next up we have She's Electricity. a "hot pink holo with pink and aqua shimmers and purple-blue iridescent microglitters." I wasn't sure how I would feel about this on me but I quite liked it. No app or formula issues and shown in two coats with topcoat.

Never Danced Like This Before is described as a "navy holo with teal shimmers." I also noticed a sort of gold flash to the holo. Again, no app or formula issues and is shown with two coats and topcoat, but I feel you could get away with just one.

The polish I was most excited about was Bound to the City Life, a "dark teal jelly with purple, navy, red, green and silver holo microglitters." This one is so pretty in person and photos can't do it justice. Unfortunately these are not completely color accurate and in real life it's sort of a cross between the two. Shown in two coats with a coat of gelous and topcoat as it does dry a little rough. No app or formula issues here either.

And as a special gift when you purchase an entire collection, you will receive Hypothermia, a "purple holo with purple shimmers." I loved this and it may end up being my absolute favorite of this set. I feel like a broken record but no app or formula issues and is shown with two coat and topcoat. Remember, not available on its own!

The Spark in the Dark Collection will release January 12 at 3:30 PM EST in Julie's shop. The full collection will be $67(fs) or $37(mini) for all 8 polishes. For the holo and shifters individual bottles will be $12(fs) or $6(mini) and the cremes, flakies, shimmers, glitters and microglitters will be $8.50(fs) or $5(mini). Blue Eyed Girl Lacquers are designed to be opaque in 1-2 coats so you may have to thin them to your taste.

I really enjoyed this collection and if this is any indication of the quality of all her polishes I will need to get my hands on some more! I really recommend Wanna Fall in Love Tonight, It's Almost After Midnight, Bound To the City Life and Hypothermia(if you can get the whole collection). What do you ladies think? And come back Thursday as I have another LE polished that is part of the Siren series to share with you! As always, thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed :)
